If you’ve stumbled across this little ministry site of ours we’d like to welcome you and thank you so much for stopping by. You might have a few questions about what this ministry is, our beliefs, and what our intentions are for it. So I thought I’d write out a post here with a little intro about our ministry.
The People Behind Acts of the Remnant
My name is Sarah and my husband is Andy. I will probably be doing the majority of the blog posts here. While my husband will be uploading videos to our Youtube channel. We also have a son who’s two years old and a precious baby girl on the way come July. But, they’re both a bit too young to be playing an active role in this ministry at the moment. 😉
About Us and Our Walks With God
Within the past two years the Lord has been working on our family in a big way.
I grew up Baptist and my husband grew up Catholic. Although we both grew up believing in God, I think I can safely speak for both of us when I say that we never really took the Bible or Jesus seriously enough until about two years ago.
My husband openly submitted himself to the Lord at that point, after he was so disheartened with the direction our country (and the world) is going in. He had, at the time, been constantly searching for the answer to our country’s problems within politics.
It was then that he realized that the problem we have with the United States (and the world as a whole) isn’t going to be solved with politics or anything else of this world. Because what we have on our hands is a spiritual problem, and there is no earthly solution to a spiritual problem. Jesus Christ, and His precious blood that was shed on the cross for our sins, is the only solution to the mess this world has become. He is the ONLY WAY.
After my husband started on his own walk with the Lord, God started working on me through him. At that point we both found ourselves on a whirlwind journey to submit every area of our lives to Jesus. This journey has humbled us, challenged us, convicted us, changed us, molded us, and it has been the absolute most rewarding experience life can offer.
The Conviction to Start the Acts of the Remnant Ministry
So within the past year or so the Lord started putting it on our hearts to start a ministry in order to share where He has led us. There is so much talk about getting back to the Book of Acts church. God has really opened up our eyes to see what that would really look like. Essentially God has taught us how to take Him out of the box that denominations TRY to put Him in, and let His Word speak for itself through the Wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
It has been eye opening to say the least. Try it. Read the Bible without ANY preconceived notions or theologies. Let the Bible completely interpret itself and you will be amazed and shocked at what God shows you.
What Acts of the Remnant is All About
Acts of the Remnant was born with the idea of getting back to the Book of Acts church and educating our Christian brethren on what that would actually look like. Our hope and prayer is that this ministry will be used as a vessel for the Lord to speak to you. We also pray that it will help wake up the sleeping Body of Christ. So that we can truly come out of the world and be separate.
God doesn’t WANT us to be comfortable in this temporary world. If we’re comfortable here, then that means we have become apart of this world. This is a pit stop people. This isn’t the final destination. If we really start living with our final destination in mind, then we will start living a lot differently.
Be Ye Not Unequally Yoked
So ask yourself this. Do you look and act just like your non-Christian neighbor? Do you do the same things, watch the same shows, read the same books, make the same jokes, indulge in the same sins, eat the same food, and so on?
“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” – 2 Corinthians 2:14-18
Be Holy, for God is Holy
Shouldn’t we be different than unbelievers? Isn’t that what God calls us to be when he tells us we are to be Holy because He is Holy?
“For I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. For I am the Lord that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.” – Leviticus 11:44-45
Friendship With the World is Enmity With God
We are told over-and-over again throughout the Word of God that we are not to be be apart of this world. Being of the world creates enmity between us and God because the world is an enemy of God.
“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” – James 4:4
Our Hopes and Prayers for This Ministry
We hope and pray that this ministry will be a blessing to someone out there. Even if it helps just one person to deepen their walk with God. May this ministry encourage our brethren to put God before themselves.
Now, let’s get back to the Book of Acts church everyone is always talking so much about. And let’s start taking a long hard look at what that REALLY looks like for our lives.
